Severe Weather Days

So lately, we've been hit with some storms. And during school, around 1:30 today, one touched down a few miles away. Naturally, we went into the severe weather protocols or whatever they're called. All I know is that I was sitting in the bathroom underneath the sink and playing Flow on my phone until they let us go to our next class.
I was nervous, but I was not as nervous as some. My friend said that in his class, a few of the freshmen girls were bawling because they thought they were going to die. Another one of my friends, her sister texted her saying "I love you" because she was like "Oh, I have to let them know I love them in case we die". I knew that we weren't going to die at school, that's just a horrible way to go.
Now, six or so hours later, I'm sitting in my basement with my sister, surrounded by all my personal belongings. The ones that mean the most to me, like the ragdoll I've had since I was born (I think they bought it before I was born even). The storm isn't moving in our direction anymore, but it is near us so my sister wanted to stay in the basement, and I'm staying with her.
Yes, I am nervous because it's just the two of us at home alone and I will obviously have to be the one to step up and take charge and protect my sister at all costs in case something happens. But I have no shame in admitting that I am in my basement with all my stuff because BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY! That's my moto. Anyway, since practice was cancelled, I can get my workout in by carrying all my stuff upstairs to my bedroom. But I do have the company of some nice fleece blankets that I made for people for Christmas then never saw them.
Hope all of you are staying safe this April 9th. xoxo -Lauren
