Book Series I Finished in 2018!

Hey all! The year has come to a close and now I'm here to talk all about it! I ended up with a pretty good reading year, especially when it comes to these past few months. I read so many amazing books this year and I ended up finishing more series this year than in any previous year! In 2018, I managed to finish seven series, which is almost twice as many as I finished in 2017. I'm pretty proud of this accomplishment and hope to finish even more in 2019! But without further ado, here are the seven series I finished in 2018:

The first series I finished in 2018 was the Executive Toy series by Cleo Peitsche in January. This was also the only series I finished in the first half of the year. I had read the first three books at the very end of 2017 and ended up finishing the last three in the very beginning of 2018. It was a pretty fun series but I didn't love it too much. Mostly, it was a fast read and pretty short but I haven't had the urge to return to the series since finishing.

The next series I finished was The Illuminae Files trilogy by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff in July. I loved the first two books and it was almost a two year wait for me until I could read the final book since I had read an advanced copy of the second. I think the reason it took me months after the release date for me to read this one was because I wanted to reread the first two in preparation for this one. And it was such a fun reread! I love this trilogy so much and it's brought me both happiness and great pain. Overall, I thought Obsidio was a perfect end to the trilogy. Reviews: Book 1, Book 2, Book 3

The third series I finished in 2018 was The Oresteia trilogy by Aeschylus in October. The explanation behind this one is pretty simple: I had to read it for a class I was taking. I'll be honest and say I don't remember much of what happened and I don't really care to reread it anytime soon.

The fourth series I finished in 2018 was the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas in October. If you've been around for a while, you know my love for this series. It's one of the series that got me back into reading years ago and I was eagerly anticipating this final release. I still can't quite believe that it's over but I absolutely loved the final book. Reviews: Book 0.5, Book 1, Book 3, Book 5, Book 6, Book 7

The fifth series I finished was the To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy by Jenny Han in November. This was an unexpected one for me, as at the beginning of the year I didn't even know anything about this trilogy. But when the movie trailer came out, I really wanted to watch it but I knew I wanted to read the book first. And then I finished the book...and needed to know what happened next. I absolutely loved reading this trilogy and I only wish I'd found it sooner. I love the characters so much and it was such a light, fun-hearted read that has found its way onto my favorites list. Reviews: Book 1, Book 2, Book 3

The sixth series I finished in 2018 was the Curse of the Gods series by Jaymin Eve & Jane Washington in December. I started reading this series when it came out and fell in love immediately. I absolutely adored this series and, while it's sad to see it come to an end, it was such an amazing ride and I loved the final book! Reviews: Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, Book 4, Book 4.5, Book 5

The seventh and final series I finished this year was the Dark Side series by Kristy Cunning in December. This series was a lot of fun to read and I definitely thought the final book was a great end to the series. Overall, I really enjoyed this series and will most likely revisit my favorite scenes but I don't think it was an amazing, out of this world story.

Well, those were the seven series I finished reading in 2018! I'm hoping to finish even more series in the upcoming year and already have such a huge TBR. Wish me luck! Thanks for reading! For all my other 2018 wrap-up posts, go here!

Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Villains

Hello everyone! We're back with another Top 5 Wednesday and I'm so excited about this one. The topics this month are pretty awesome and this week is no exception. For this wonderful day of October the 10th, we're discussing our top 5 favorite villains.

At number five, I decided to go with Corien from Furyborn by Claire Legrand. We don't see as much of him as some of the other characters in this first book, but I love him already. He's like that villain that you hate to love.

For number four, I picked the Volturi from the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. For me, there's something just so timeless about the Volturi and this series. It's been such a staple of my life for so long that the Volturi have always been a set of villains at the back of my mind.

Number 3 I'm going with Voldemort from Harry Potter. He's just a classic villain that I had to go with, and, as opposed to Umbridge, I don't hate hate him. I enjoy him as a villain even if I don't particularly love him. I still think he's an asshole with a weird obsession with Harry, but I also find him to be an enjoyable antagonist.

For number 2, I'm choosing Sebastian Morgentstern from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Another staple of my middle school years, this series was so amazing to me and I always loved Sebastian no matter how many terrible things he did. (Also cue me being behind on the Shadowhunters show and not realizing that this gorgeous person was playing Sebastian)

And, at number 1, we have AIDAN from the Illuminae Files trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. How can I not love AIDAN? It's a killer monster AI yet it develops feelings and I just love AIDAN, ok? Its character development is just on point and I only wish we were getting more books set in this universe so that I could get more AIDAN in my life!

Who are your top 5 favorite villains? Do we have any of the same ones? Let me know down below! Also, feel free to join the Goodreads Top 5 Wednesday Group to keep up to date on the latest topics and see everyone's posts!

Let's Talk: "Obsidio" by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff Book Review!

Title: Obsidio
Authors: Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
Series: "Illuminae_Files_03"
Genre: YA Science Fiction
Page Length: 615 pages
Publication Date: March 13, 2018
Date Started: May 26, 2018
Date Finished: July 17, 2018
Rating: 5/5 amazing stars!

Don’t let the amount of time it took me to read this book fool you: it was awesome! Every summer for the past three years, I’ve fallen into severe reading slumps where I read maybe 5 books over the course of three months. It’s just hard for me to read. But that is the only reason that it took me so long to read this book!

It was fast-paced and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I read it! Especially the last 200 pages…I couldn’t stop and then all of a sudden I had finished it!

What I loved most about this book was seeing the development that each of these characters had undergone from the first and second books to this one! I can see the character arcs that Jay and Amie wrote and I’m in awe! I just love each and every one of these flawed, beautiful characters so much.

I thought that it had the right mix of action and suspense and romance. The pacing was perfect and the points of view were on point (haha, see what I did there?). Overall, this book was just so well executed.

That’s all I can really say without spoiling it but I will leave you with these final thoughts: I thought that Obsidio was a fantastic finale to this trilogy. I’ve been reading this story for three and a half years now and I can’t believe that it’s over. I’ve had so many awesome memories because of this trilogy: I’ve made friends, gone to signings, met the amazing authors, and so much more all thanks to this trilogy! It’s heartbreaking to be finished with it but it’s an extremely amazing feeling to finally know how all of my favorite characters end up! I can’t wait to reread this book because whenever I’ve reread an Illuminae Files book, I’ve always ended up loving it even more than the first time around.

I highly, highly recommend this trilogy…especially the audiobooks! I think my next read through with definitely be 100% from the audiobooks because they really are masterpieces in themselves!

Thanks for reading!
