Most Anticipated 2025 Book Releases

I think we can all agree that one of the best things about a new year means that there's going to be new books coming out. I, for one, always love tracking new releases and seeing which ones are going to excite me the most. Today, I have a list of some of my most anticipated 2025 book releases. There are other releases I'm looking forward to but the ones on this list are ones I'm counting down to. Let's go ahead and dive in!

Up first, we have An Honored Vow by Melissa Blair. This is the fourth and final book in the Halfling Saga, a fantasy series I first started back in 2021 with A Broken Blade. An instant TikTok sensation, I couldn't help but be drawn to it. I read it in one sitting and absolutely loved it. I have yet to read any of the sequels (in part due to my mood reading habits). However, now that the final book is about to be out, I cannot wait to binge read the series and see what my favorite characters are getting up to.

Not long after, Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros will be released (in just a few short weeks!). This is the third book to Fourth Wing, which I'm sure I don't need to spend too much time introducing. I absolutely loved Fourth Wing and I enjoyed Iron Flame. More than anything, I'm intrigued to see what happens after the absolutely insane cliffhanger we got at the end of book two. I don't have much longer to wait and I'm definitely going to enjoy diving back into the world.

Ali Hazelwood, who was one of my most-read authors in 2024, is releasing a new book in February that seems to be made just for me: Deep End. This supposedly follows a diver and a swimmer in a college romance setting. As a retired competitive swimmer and previous lifeguard, this book is right up my alley. I am incredibly excited to see what Ali has in store for us as her books seem to just hit perfectly every single time.

Then we have Scythe and Sparrow by Brynne Weaver, the third book in the Ruinous Love trilogy. I read the first two books, Butcher and Blackbird and Leather and Lark, this year and absolutely loved them. Dark, funny, stabby romances that seem to just hit a spot I didn't know I had. While I doubt anyone can top our main couple in B&B, I'm eager to see what this book entails for a couple characters we've been seeing for ages.

May brings the next book in the House of Devils series by Kayla Edwards: City of Smoke and Brimstone. I absolutely love this series and these characters. We've got big, chunky books with lots of amazing characters and addicting stories. I haven't yet read the third book so I'm holding off on that since we're getting so close to the fourth book releasing. I have a feeling Kayla will, once again, rip my heart out in this one.

One of the top five books I'm looking forward to is definitely Elancer by Jane Washington, the sixth and (supposedly) final book in the Ironside Academy series. Jane has long been a favorite author of mine and this recent series of hers is just absolutely top notch. It's addicting and exciting and I can never turn away. I am both eagerly looking forward to this final book and dreading the goodbye that we'll have at the end.

Up next we have A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna. This is a cozy fantasy coming from the same author as A Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, which I read this past fall and absolutely adored. While it's not set in the same world, it is apparently going to have the same cozy fantasy vibes. I am incredibly excited for this one and I just know that it's going to hit my favorites list just like Secret Society

Then we have His Juliet by Emilia Rossi, the next in the Empire of Royals series. This is a companion/stand alone in the inter-connected series so it can be read completely on its own. However, having read the first book where we were introduced to the male love interest in this book, I can't express enough how excited I am for this book. Also, the love interests names are Romeo and Juliet which...I'm scared to see how this is going to go but I'm also so ready for it.

Of course I can't have an anticipated releases list without mentioning Katabasis by R.F. Kuang. From the very first moment this book was mentioned I was ready for it. It's a dark academia fantasy about two rival graduate students must travel into hell to save their professor's soul. Say less, just take my money. I am so incredibly ready to have this book in my hands, especially since it's by R.F. Kuang herself.

The next few books don't have set release dates but I'm hoping will release in 2025. The first of these is Entwined by Rebecca Quinn, the third and final book in The Brutes of Bristlebrook series. This is a steamy, post-apocalyptic why-choose series that is absolutely addicting. We should be getting the third book any day now and I'm very much looking forward to when that is. Plus, I'm excited to be able to tick off another completed series from my list.

Then we have the fifth Wilderlore book by Amanda Foody. This is a middle grade series that is like if Pokemon met How to Train Your Dragon. It's such a fun world full of complex characters. This series truly has reinforced in me how talented Amanda Foody is to be able to write across such differing worlds and genres. There's going to be seven books in this series so we're only about halfway through. That excites me greatly, though, as we have so many more fun journeys to go on.

Up next, I'm hoping for the third Mortal Fates book by J. Bree. This is a fantasy series by the same author as The Bonds that Tie and Hannaford Prep, two of my all-time favorites. I loved the first book and enjoyed the sequel. However, there was a lot of drama surrounding the release of book two so I wouldn't be surprised if J. Bree is going to take a step back for a bit to prioritize herself. Whether we get this book in 2025 or later, I am still looking forward to it.

Lastly, we may or may not be getting the next ACOTAR installment from Sarah J. Maas. If we're going to get it in the fall or late-2025, we still won't know for a few more months. I'm hopeful that we'll get it but she has been releasing most books in winter/spring the last few years. Either way, I'm ready for it if it comes out but I'm also not holding my breath.

Thanks for reading!

Most Anticipated 2024 Book Releases

One of my favorite parts of the year is when I get to wrap up the past reading year and look ahead at what I'm excited about in the new one. Today, I'm discussing my most anticipated releases for the new year! Now, the books I'm talking about here are my most anticipated but there are plenty more than I'm looking forward to or interested in. Additionally, I often find that releases in the back half of the year don't fall on my radar until a few months in so this is a bit front loaded. So while I'm interested in plenty more and see myself discovering plenty of new books in 2024, these are the ones that I'm currently most excited for in rough publication order.

Up first is a book that I'm actually not going to be able to discuss right now until the St. Martin's Press boycott ends. But it comes out soon here in the UK with a different publisher but as the US publisher is St. Martin's Press, I'll be refraining from doing any review for now. But I am very excited and plan on reading it soon.

Then I have House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas. I love all her books and I've been eagerly anticipating this third book for almost two years now (like most people probably). It's crazy to me that I started reading her books in 2015 and am still going. I'm hoping to do a full reread in January leading up to it.
Up next is City of Lies and Legends by Kayla Edwards. This is the third book in the House of Devils series and I'm so incredibly excited for it. The first book, City of Gods and Monsters, follows a woman and a supernatural bounty hunter who is contracted to kill her. When he meets her, though, he decides to become her bodyguard instead. It's so incredibly addicting and the second book just put me through so much angst. I'm so excited for the third book and I'm so happy it's coming in just a few months.

Then I'm excited for A Vicious Game by Melissa Blair. This is the third book in The Halfling Saga, a fantasy romance series that I first discovered in 2021. I absolutely loved the first book, A Broken Blade, and was excited for the sequel, A Shadow Crown, to come out earlier in 2023. My copy took a while to arrive, though, so I just decided to wait for the third book when it finally did get to me. Once this third book arrives, I'll be able to finally continue on after that cliffhanger and binge them all back to back.

We also have The Night Compass by Amanda Foody in the first few months. This is the fourth book in the middle grade Wilderlore series, which I absolutely adore. It's like Pokemon meets How to Train Your Dragon and it's just so much fun. While I've only read the first book, it was so comforting and fun and I'm eagerly awaiting when I can just binge the four books back to back.

Up next we have Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao. This is the sequel to Iron Widow, which I read and loved at the beginning of 2022. It's been two years of waiting and there's still about six months to go but I am very much looking forward to seeing where the story goes. It's such a unique world and I truly have no idea what could come in the future.

Then we have The Throne of Blood and Honor by J. Bree, the second book in The Mortal Fates series. This is a high fantasy series from the author of The Bonds That Tie series and I'm absolutely obsessed with it. 2023 was the year of reading all of J. Bree's books for me and I am in love with all of them. I blew through the first book in this series and I'm sooooo beyond excited for the sequel. The romance is super slow burn and I'm hoping we get some progression in the sequel, though I do love the angst of the slow burn. We don't have an exact release but I'm hoping it will be in the first few months of year.

Up next is Relever by Jane Washington, the fourth book in the Ironside Academy series. I love Jane and I love this series so of course this one had to make it onto my list. There's also the chance that we'll be getting the fifth book in 2024 and I truly hope that is the case. This is a RH omegaverse-style romance series set at a university that's also a reality tv-show. It's an insane idea but it's so well done and I've been fully pulled in.

Lastly, we have the next untitled Fourth Wing sequel by Rebecca Yarros. I loved Fourth Wing and I was someone who luckily loved Iron Flame. Of course, the ending was crazy for Iron Flame and I definitely need to know where things will go.

Thanks for reading!

Anticipated 2020 Book Releases

Hey everyone! We are at the start of my favorite time of the year: the holidays and winter break! This is my favorite time of the year for a few reasons, the first being Christmas, the second being winter break and time off school, and the third being all the amazing bookish blog posts I get to write this time of year! I love wrapping up the year and looking forward to the next one, which is what I'm going to be doing in this post today.

This upcoming year (and decade in general), are promising to bring a lot of amazing book releases. I have many upcoming releases on my radar and preorder list, but I thought I'd narrow it down to my top 10 to share with you all! Some of these are coming very soon, others may be months away, but I'm excited for all of them nonetheless!

Image result for a fallen hero sara noeAt number 10, we have the second book in the Chronicles of Avilésor by Sara A. Noë, Phantom's Mask. The first book, A Fallen Hero, was one of my favorite reads of 2019 and I've been eagerly anticipating any news on the second book. We have no cover yet but there is a title and an excerpt already that have me so excited for its release.

Image result for an ember in the ashes seriesNumber 9 we have the fourth An Ember in the Ashes novel by Sabaa Tahir. While I admit that I haven't yet read the third book in this series, that's only because I am planning on doing a complete series binge when the final book releases. There's no confirmed release date yet but based on a lot of stuff from the author's writing updates, I hope it will be coming in 2020.

Image result for kerri maniscalcoFor number 8 I have Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. This is another book with no cover yet but we do have a synopsis that is absolutely killing me! I absolutely adore Kerri's Stalking Jack the Ripper series and I am so excited to see what she's going to do next. This one is the first in a new series and is set to come out in the fall!

Image result for trying to live with the deadAt number 7 I actually have two books but they're within the same series: the 8th and 9th novels in The Veil Diaries series by B.L. Brunnemer. It's no secret that this series is one of my favorites and we're finally approaching the end (well, is it the end when there's a sequel series following the same characters but a different storyline?). I cannot wait to reread the entire series in anticipation of the newest book, which should be out in January while the last should be out later in the year.

Image result for witchlands seriesFor number 6 I have the fourth Witchlands novel by Susan Dennard. There's been some talk that it's not going to come out until 2021, which would be sad, but as of right now there's still a chance it will  be 2020 so I'm going to include it on this list. This is a series I discovered at the end of 2018 and binged in the first few months of this year. I absolutely fell in love with the characters, the world, and Susan's writing. I cannot wait for the next book!

Image result for empirium trilogyNumber 5 we have Lightbringer by  Claire Legrand, the final book in the Empirium trilogy. I am absolutely stoked for this book. After the cliffhanger in Kingsbane, I've been desperately needing to know what happens and we're only a few months away (okay, like 10 months away but still). I'm sad the trilogy is coming to a close but I'm also excited to finally have resolution with the characters and a (hopefully) happy ending.

The Empire of GoldAt number 4 I have The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty. This is the third and final book in the Daevabad trilogy and I'm so excited. I discovered this series at the beginning of the year and, after binging them rather quickly, I am dying to know what happens next. I'm already planning a reread of the first two books and I'm just so excited for when the time will finally arrive.

Image result for sarah j maasFor number 3 I have the fourth A Court of Thorns and Roses novel. While it's not confirmed to be out in 2020, the most recent announcement said it would be coming at the end of 2020, so I'm holding out hope for it. I'm so excited for this spin-off novel and I can't wait to see how Sarah writes these new character perspectives and new story.

Shelby MahurinAt number 2 is Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin, the sequel to Serpent & Dove aka my favorite book of 2019. I absolutely adored Serpent & Dove and I cannot wait to get more of the characters, magic system, and high stakes in the sequel. I also just know that there's going to be an absolutely gorgeous cover for it to match the first one.

House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City, #1)And, lastly, we have House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas. This is the first book in Sarah's new adult fantasy series and I am so excited for it. ARCs have started going out and I have serious jealousy at everyone who's gotten one. I already have four editions preordered and I know that more will probably follow. I have such faith in Sarah and I cannot wait to read a new story from her set in a contemporary fantasy world!

Thanks for reading!
