June 2021 Book Haul

Hello everyone! Whereas June was kind of a meh month in regards of how many books I read versus how big my TBR was, it was a pretty significant month for hauling books! Now, in past years this would have been a really small haul. However, this year I've been trying to cut back on acquiring books until I move abroad and this month ended up a bit bigger than expected. However, I can't complain too much because I am excited about all of these!

The first book I got was my preorder of One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. This is the second book by the author of Red, White & Royal Blue (which I really enjoyed). I'll be honest, prior to release I heard nothing but amazing things but now that it's been out for a while, I've been getting a lot more mixed feelings from people I trust. I don't think I'll get to this before I leave next month but I am still interested in reading it and deciding for myself how I like it!

The next book I picked up was my preorder of Grace and Glory by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This is the third and final book in the Harbringer trilogy and I am so excited that it's finally out. This trilogy is a follow up to one of my favorite series from Jennifer and I haven't gotten to read it yet. Now that the full trilogy is out, though, I have plans to binge it all this year and finally be reunited with the characters and world!

Then, I picked up Check, Please! Sticks & Stones by Ngozi Ukazu. This is the second volume in this adorable graphic novel duology and I'm so excited to finally have it. It came out last year, but with losing my job and everything in the world I wasn't able to get a copy then. Luckily, I had a gift card I was able to use to buy this and I'm very excited to finally see the conclusion of this adorable story!

Up next I have the first volume of The Way of the Househusband by Kousuke Oono. This is a manga series about a retired mob boss becoming a househusband to support his girlboss wife. It sounds absolutely hilarious and fun and adorable. I've heard nothing but good things and I'm so excited to dive into these when I get to London. The main reason I purchased it now instead of when I arrive, though, is because this first volume has been sold out (last time I checked) for a while in the UK and I knew I'd want to read it. So I'll just bring this one over next month and start reading then!

Then I picked up a copy of The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory. This is one that has been on my wishlist for years and I finally decided to take the plunge and get it when I had a gift card. I've heard nothing but cute things about this one and I'm so interested to see how I like Jasmine Guillory's writing since she has written quite a few romcoms that tend to top recommendation lists.

Up next, I picked up a replacement hardcover copy of Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I had a hardcover but it got lost somewhere in my frequent moves and storage swaps. With the popularity of the TV show, it's also increasingly difficult to find a hardcover edition without the Netflix sticker and with the sprayed edges that match my sequel edition. Luckily, I found one online for a reasonable price and now have a completed duology again!

Lastly, I won a signed advance copy of All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman. This comes out in November (I believe?) and is like a darker, queerer Hunger Games. I've heard lots of amazing things and I've enjoyed everything I've ever read from Amanda, so I am quite intrigued by this one. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to fit this in my suitcase for moving, though, and I might have to hold off for a while.

Thanks for reading!
xoxo

June 2021 Wrap-Up

Another month, another wrap-up! I can't believe we're already halfway through 2021 and I've read hardly any books compared to usual. I read a total of four books this month, which is better than I did in May. I also read quite a few long books that had been on my TBR for a while. Another bonus is that I loved everything I read! Hopefully, I'll be able to get even more read in July but we'll see if that actually happens.
