June 2023 Book Haul

This month was a pretty chill one when it came to what books I hauled. I only got five books this month, which is a pretty low number for me. There's not much else to say other than I've been saving money for other books or spending it on preorders for future months. I'm pretty happy with my haul this month so let's just dive in!

The first book I hauled this month was The Crown of Oaths and Curses by J. Bree. Now, at this point in the year, J. Bree has become a new favorite author. I've read all but one of her 20+ books by now. This one is her newest release and the start of a new fantasy series featuring witches and fae. I read it in one sitting and absolutely devoured it, loving every second. I knew it was one that I needed a physical copy of just like Hannaford Prep

Then I got my June adult box from Fairyloot. This month's book was Shanghai Immortal by A.Y. Chao and featured an exclusive cover, stenciled edges, digital edges, a design on the naked hardcover, artwork on the endpages, and is signed. Fairyloot's editions are truly stunning and top tier at this point. I am pretty interested in this book but I will say that I only got it because I wanted July's book but ran out of skips otherwise I would have gotten the standard UK edition (which is stunning in its own right).

The next book I got was Blood & Steel by Helen Scheuerer. This is her adult debut and I've previously read one of her YA titles (and plan on continuing the series). This one I read on KU first and then decided I wanted to have the physical copy. It's a fantasy romance that I read in one sitting and couldn't put down. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the sequel coming later this year.

Then I finally got my copy of A Shadow Crown by Melissa Blair. This book released in May in the US, but as I'm in the UK it wasn't released here until the end of June. Initially, my preorder wasn't even going to ship until July but I was pleasantly surprised when it actually shipped on time. Now, after over a year and a half of waiting since I finished the first book, I have the sequel in my hands. I am so incredibly excited for this one and I hope to reread the first book and then dive into this one in July because I miss this world a lot.

The last book I got was Make My Move by J. Bree. This is a Hannaford Prep novel but it's more of a bonus book? It's the same as the second book, Make Your Move, but just told from the boys' perspectives. When I first read the series I didn't read it because I knew on my reread I'd do it as a tandem read. This month I reread the series because I missed the characters so much and that meant it was time to read this one. I already owned the bind-up of the series but this one wasn't included so, of course, I had to get it.

Thanks for reading!
xoxo
Lauren
