Unboxing: Fairyloot's "The Witching Hour" (November 2022)

After taking a month off and then the November box being late, it's been a while since I've had a Fairyloot unboxing to do. But my box has finally arrived and I am beyond excited about it. November's theme was The Witching Hour and I was excited from the moment I read the theme reveal. Let's just dive in!

The first item we have is a foiled mug designed by @avendellart and themed after Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. I'll be honest, I haven't yet finished this trilogy but I am looking forward to it in the future. This mug is nice and pretty, though I won't be using it for drinking anything. I'm not a big coffee or tea person and I only really do hot chocolate when it's cold. I mainly use mugs, especially bookish ones, for holding pens, bookmarks, or other trinkets. This one will definitely be beautiful on my Kerri Maniscalco shelf in the future.

Up next is the next collectible letter opener designed by @jezhawk and themed after Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin. I like the design of this, though I'm not sure how practical it is as a letter opener. I love Serpent & Dove but haven't yet read the rest of the series, so I don't know what the significance of the sword is. Either way, It'll hopefully look nice with the rest of the letter openers.

Then we got a book review notebook designed by @chattynora. It has a cottagecore/witchy theme and I think it's absolutely beautiful. I actually bought a reading planner this year, so I'm glad this isn't a planner and instead is just a notebook for book reviews. I'll probably start using it right away to track all of the books I'm reading (especially those that I don't write full reviews for on my blog).

The last item was a spellbook pin designed by @no0nedesigns. It's not themed after anything except witchy-ness and spells. This is a beautiful pin and I'm definitely going to be adding it to my pin banner when I get all my stuff out of storage. I'm a big fan of small enamel pins and this one is right up my alley.

The tarot cards designed by @arz28 this month feature characters from The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah. We have Loulie as The Star and Mazen as The Tower. I'm loving the tarot cards this deck and this month is no exception. I realized I put the other tarot cards in storage while we apartment hunt so I can't put them all together just yet but I'm very excited to see how they all look together soon.

The book this month is The Ones We Burn by Rebecca Mix. This edition has an exclusive cover, ombre sprayed edges, a reversible dust jacket, artwork on the endpages, foil embossing on the hardcover (all designed by @carnemia), and a bookplate. I've been interested in this book for years so I was pretty excited when I saw that Fairyloot was doing an exclusive edition. I will say I was hoping for some nicer edges as I find Fairyloot's ombre edges lacking most of the time but otherwise this edition is quite nice.

Overall, I'm quite happy with this month's box. I liked every item and have plans for the majority of them. The book is also one that I was originally going to be preordering anyway so I've not really spent that much extra this month getting this box.

I will say, what I'm most looking forward to in December is the items and less the book, though I'm still interested in it. As we're halfway through December, I anticipate getting this box rather soon which will mean I might have a second unboxing to post this month. The December box will also be my one-year anniversary of being a subscriber again and I'm eager to see how it stacks up compared to the last year.

Thanks for reading!
xoxo

Book Blitz: "Kingdom of the Feared" by Kerri Maniscalco

It's a fantastic Tuesday and do you know why? Because Kingdom of the Feared by Kerri Maniscalco released today! This is the third and final book in the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy and I'm so excited to be apart of this book blitz tour from TBR and Beyond Tours. Make sure to check out the rest of the tour here before diving in!

*Spoilers for Books 1 & 2*

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stalking the Jack the Ripper series comes the steamy conclusion to Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy.

And a love more powerful than fate. All hail the king and queen of Hell.

Emilia is reeling from the shocking discovery that her twin sister, Vittoria, is alive. But before she faces the demons of her past, Emilia yearns to claim her king, the seductive Prince of Wrath, in the flesh. Emilia doesn’t simply desire his body, she wants his heart and soul—but that’s something the enigmatic demon can’t promise her.

When a high-ranking member of House Greed is assassinated, Emilia and Wrath are drawn to the rival demon court. Damning evidence points to Vittoria as the murderer and she’s quickly declared an enemy of the Seven Circles. Despite her betrayal, Emilia will do anything to solve this new mystery and find out who her sister really is.

Together Emilia and Wrath play a sin-fueled game of deception as they work to stop the unrest that’s brewing between witches, demons, shape-shifters and the most treacherous foes of all: the Feared.

October 2021 Book Haul

So, it appears my small book hauls of the beginning of this year are over seeing as I hauled twenty-four books in October. Oops? I will be honest, I was not smart with book buying this month but I can't bring myself to be upset about any of them as I'm excited about all the books that I hauled this month. I will admit, I got a bit carried away after all the articles about the fact there's going to be a book shortage later in the year. So, I got a bunch of books I've been looking forward to and a bunch of cool special editions as well. But, seeing as I have a lot to get through, let's go ahead and just dive straight in?

The first book that I got was The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. This is a book that has risen in popularity a lot lately and I've heard a lot of good things about. It's been on my to-read list for a long time and I even have the ebook. However, this book got picked up by a traditional publisher and will now be published with a new format and cover. While I am excited about that, I also love this cover so I wanted to snag a copy before it went out of print and became impossible to find.

Up next, I have the Throne of Glass eight-book paperback box set. I have been wanting the US paperbacks for years now, and I actually figured out that the box set was significantly cheaper than buying all the books on their own. So I took the hit and got the set all at once. I'm very happy that I have these and I can't wait to start rereading the series and annotating the heck out of these books.

Then I picked up Rick Riordan's new book, Daughter of the Deep. This is his newest book and one of few not set in the PJATO universe. This is a Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under the Sea-inspired story and a standalone, if I'm not mistaken. I picked up the UK hardcover and it's absolutely stunning! The UK hardcovers of Rick's books are taller and shinier than the US ones and, while overall I prefer the US editions for the PJATO universe, I do love this edition a lot.

I managed to snag an amazing secondhand deal with the Waterstones exclusive hardcover of Catwoman by Sarah J. Maas. I've been wanting this edition for a while, but not enough to actually pay the prices that it mostly sells for. However, I was just browsing one day and found this copy for an amazing price! It's in almost perfect condition and is signed by the queen herself. If you know me, you know that I like to collect Sarah J. Maas editions and I'm thrilled to add this to my collection.

Next I picked up Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. This entire trilogy was on sale for less than $3 (after conversion) and I couldn't help myself. I was able to get the entire trilogy for less than the cost of just one of them at regular price. The first two I managed to get in September but this last one wasn't available until this month. It's lovely having all three on my shelf and I can't wait to actually dive into these gorgeous books.

Then I grabbed the UK hardcover of Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco before it goes out of print. This hardcover is slightly different from the US one, but seeing as I'm living in the UK now and will get the others in the series in the UK edition, I wanted to have a matching first book. I also now am able to reread it easily before diving into the sequel.

Speaking of the sequel, I did pick up the signed Waterstones edition of Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco. It has gorgeous blue sprayed edges and I'm really happy with it. I'm not quite sure when I'm going to dive into this sequel, though, as I've heard there is a cliffhanger and I might just want to wait until the final book is out next year before putting myself through that. Either way, I'm glad to have this special edition in my collection now.

Another new release that I was able to grab was a signed copy of Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. This is one of my most anticipated reads and I do hope that I'm able to get to it before the end of the year as I've heard so many amazing things about it from everyone who has read it. Chinese-inspired fantasy with a badass female main character and a poly romance? Count me in!

Then I snagged the paperback of Lightbringer by Claire Legrand. I collect different editions of the Empirium trilogy and this is the final book. The paperback just released and I, of course, had to grab a copy. I brought my paperback editions of the first two books with me to London so now I have the full trilogy in paperback and ready for me to binge-read so that I can finally get to Lightbringer (I'm scared).

Up next, I picked up The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas. I've heard nothing but amazing things about this romance and it has a bunch of my favorite tropes in it so I couldn't help but take the plunge and grab the paperback when I saw it was available here. I anticipate that I'll read this very soon, but I'm not sure if I'll manage to get to it before the end of the year. Either way, I'm quite excited.

Then I grabbed Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas. This is one that I actually read as an ebook and decided I needed a paperback copy of (a theme you might see throughout the rest of this haul). I read this book in one sitting and had a great time reading it. I can't wait to reread it and annotate this paperback because there were definitely some moments I read where I wished that I had a highlighter and pen to mark up this book with.

In similar fashion, I picked up Tryst Six Venom by Penelope Douglas after I read the ebook and loved it. This book is over 500 pages and I read it in one sitting (and loved it, obviously). This book is messy and drama-filled and I loved every moment of it. I knew the moment I finished it that I needed to have a copy on my bookshelves. This is Penelope's first sapphic novel, too, and I was really happy to read it.

Then I snagged a copy of Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko. This was also on sale like Bitterblue and I've heard a lot of great things about this book from very trusted sources. Not only that, but I read somewhere that it's being adapted for screen? I, of course, want to read it before then so when I saw it on sale for so cheap I snagged it pretty quickly.

Up next, I managed to find a hardcover of The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout in stock here in the UK. It's rare to find hardcovers of this series when you're not at Barnes & Noble in the US (which doesn't ship to the UK, FYI) so when I saw it available here I jumped on it. I want to collect this series and the prequel series in the hardcovers because they're a better format than the brick-like paperbacks. Also, it doesn't hurt that I loved this book!

Like earlier, I picked up a copy of Dear Love, I Hate You by Eliah Greenwood after reading the ebook and loving it. I gave this book 5 stars and it is definitely one of my favorites of the year. I cannot wait to reread it (probably soon, if I'm being honest) and devour the rest of this author's books. I highly recommend looking into this if you're looking for a booktok romance book that's actually good! I cannot wait for the sequel to come out next year!

I was then able to snag an ARC of Furyborn by Claire Legrand in a trade (cover does not match this picture). This is the Fairyloot ARC version, which means it was printed in the UK with stiffer binding and a shiny cover instead of matte. The differences are so slight that it was a low-priority ARC for me to add to my collection, but I always knew that if I was able to, I wanted to get it for my collection. As luck would have it, I managed to get a copy this month!

The last book I hauled in October was The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling. I read this as an ebook before buying this paperback just like with multiple books earlier in this haul. This was a wonderful, spooky romance that was perfect for reading during October and Halloween season. I knew I wanted to add a copy to my shelves and I have no doubt that I'll be reading this in multiple Halloween seasons to come!

Well, are your eyes tired yet? Because my wrists are tired from all the typing I just did. Either way, those were the twenty-four books that I hauled in October. Spot any favorites? Any books you're excited for? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading!
xoxo

November 2020 Book Haul

Hello everyone! Another month, another book haul for you guys! This month I got five physical books and I'm super excited for them all. I'm not quite sure how December is going to go since it is a the holiday season but so far I've been getting fewer books each month which is exciting. I'm trying to cut back a lot on what books I bring into my collection and I'm really excited about all of these!

The first two books I'm going to talk about are The Darkest Star and The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I ordered these because I wanted the covers to match the newest book and I just hadn't bought proper copies yet. The Burning Shadow arrived quickly and is beautiful. The Darkest Star, on the other hand, took so long to arrive that Amazon refunded me before it showed up a week and a half later (and not the edition I ordered, either). What will most likely happen is I end up donating or giving away The Darkest Star since (1) I got it for free and (2) I have the ARC with this cover and would much rather have the new cover edition. Still, I'm super excited to binge this series when the final book releases!

The next book I got was kindly sent to me by Book Terminals and that is a finished copy of the new We Need Diverse Books anthology, A Universe of Wishes which is edited by Dhonielle Clayton and features a brilliant line up of amazing authors! This is a fantasy and sci-fi anthology featuring some authors that I really love so I was incredibly excited when I was chosen for this tour! My post will be up on December 10th over on my Instagram :)

The next book I got was Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. This is my second edition but I got it for a very specific reason...it's the Beacon edition! This edition features metallic gold edges and is signed! I'm absolutely in love with it and I'm so excited to have both the Barnes & Noble cover and regular cover in my collection. You can also find my non-spoiler review for this book here as well as a playlist curated by me if you're interested!

The final book I hauled in November was Fable by Adrienne Young. I got this off ebay and it was quite the steal! First, it is signed which is awesome since my other book by Adrienne Young is also signed. Then when it arrived I found out that it was the Bookish Box edition with fan art on the back of the dust jacket! This edition goes for $50+ so I was really surprised to find I had gotten it for less than retail price. The main reason I ordered this was because I wanted a hardcover without the Reese's Book Club sticker on it. I think it's incredible and amazing this book was chosen for the club, but I absolutely hate that sticker being put on every book under the sun (figuratively, that is). So I wanted to snag a first edition before they were all too hard to find or too expensive. I'm really excited to have this in my collection and can't wait to read it soon!

Those are all of the books I hauled in November. Like I said, I have no idea how December is going to go. I already have at least three books on my probable haul list but that's before we even get towards Christmas gifts and whatnot. What books did you get in November? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading!

October 2020 Book Haul

Hello everyone! Today I'm here with my book haul for the past month of October! I got a total of nine physical books, which I think is a pretty good number. Some of these I've already read whereas others are on my immediate TBR for this year and I'm really excited about them all! So, without further ado, here are the books I hauled in October!

The first book I picked up was a copy of Dear Justyce by Nic Stone. This is the sequel/companion to Dear Martin which I read over the summer. I am so intrigued to see how this book goes and to educate myself a bit. I actually have gotten a few books by Nic Stone over the past few months and I'm intrigued to read them all. I feel like Dear Martin hit me right in the feels so I very much expect Dear Justyce as well as Nic's other books to do the same!
The next book I got was a copy of Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare and a plethora of co-authors. This was the last book in the Shadowhunters world that I had to get (until the next one releases, that is!) and I'm quite excited. This is a collection of novellas and short stories set in the world following a bunch of different characters. I'm planning on doing a Shadowhunters read-through all the way from the beginning soon and I'm glad to have finally added this to my collection.

Up next I got my preorder for Lightbringer by Claire Legrand. This is the third and final book in the Empirium Trilogy and I am so excited. This was one of the books in my top five most anticipated for this year and I'm so excited for it to finally be out. The ending of the second book blew me away and destroyed me so I am beyond excited to finally see how this final book plays out. I am also incredibly terrified to see what is going to happen.

The next book I picked up was the signed Owlcrate edition of Incendiary by Zoraida Córdova. This is one of my favorite books of the year and I was just browsing on Instagram when I saw this gorgeous edition and realized that I didn't have a finished copy yet. I was so lucky and found this on ebay for less than list price! I am so excited to one day have a gorgeous collection of different editions for this series since it really is superb!

Up next I got my preorder of The Brightest Night by Jennifer L. Armentrout which actually came signed! I have to say, I wasn't a huge fan of the new covers when they were announced but in person it's actually quite pretty. This is the third book in the Origin series which is the spin-off to the Lux series (one of my favorites). I plan on waiting for the final book to release and then binging them all but I, of course, had to get my hands on this signed first edition!

The next book was kindly sent to me by Wunderkind PR and that is The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is a book that was pitched to me as Cinderella meets One of Us is Lying and  Knives Out and I, of course, was immediately intrigued. I actually just finished this book late last night and loved it so make sure to stay tuned for my full, non-spoiler review this upcoming weekend where I'll gush about how good this book was!

Then I finally got my Fairyloot edition of Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin. I was so lucky that my box was one of the first shipped and arrived before I left my mom's house because this box was so amazing! I will also have a full unboxing of this box coming this Friday. This specific edition had sprayed edges, artwork on the back of the dust jacket, and was signed so that it all matched the Serpent & Dove edition from last year that I got.

The next book I got was actually an advanced reader's copy of Lightbringer by Claire Legrand. I was so lucky to find this in a trade because this was probably my most sought after ARC for this year. I'm so excited that my Empirium Trilogy collection is virtually complete and that I have the ARCs for all of the books. This is one of my favorite trilogy and I knew that this was an ARC I would trade almost anything to get my hands on. I was so lucky that someone was finally trading it after months of searching!

The last book that I got this month was my Barnes & Noble edition of Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco. This is the first book in Kerri's new series and you can find my spoiler-free review here. The B&N edition had a different cover and behind the scenes content at the back so I knew that I had to snag a copy before they sold out as I loved this book!

Those are all of the books I got this month! Did you get any exciting books in October? Let me know in the comments down below!

Thanks for reading!
